On Thursday, Australian iron ore miner Atlas Iron (AGO.AX) requested a halt in the trading of its shares.

The news release is quoted as saying:

A West Australian newspaper said on Thursday, without citing sources, that Atlas Iron was close to finalising the sale of a majority stake in a two-billion-tonne magnetite deposit in a deal the newspaper said could be worth close to A$150 million ($138 million) . It added that Atlas was also in advanced talks to sell its Wodgina deposit in Australia, tapped to become its second hematite iron ore mine. Atlas shares closed at A$2.13 on Wednesday
