Australia Port Hedland iron ore exports rise

Iron ore shipments from Australia’s Port Hedland rose to 14.87 million tonnes in December from 13.99 million tonnes during November,2009.

The news release is quoted as saying:

China remained the largest destination with shipments of 11.17 million tonnes versus 9.68 million tonnes in November. Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton (BLT.L) (BHP.AX) and Fortescue Metals Group (FMG.AX) in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
